How do I check order status?
What are pest birds?
Though there isn’t a universal definition explaining what a pest bird is, three species are commonly labeled as pest birds in the Australia & The United States, the Feral Pigeon, the English Starling, and the House Sparrow, all of which are invasive, non-native species. Other species such as Grackles, Geese, Swallow’s, Cormorants, Seagulls and Crows have been hailed as common pest birds. According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife department, “Any bird, a cardinal, chickadee or dove, can become a "problem" when it does something unpleasant. What's unpleasant depends on what the bird is doing, and how you react.”
Most of our clients are very concerned to see the damage done by birds as they spread germs and can cause many hours of cleaning before you can use your boats. Our products are designed to get you on the water asap and not on the boat or deck cleaning.
Are pest birds protected?
There are currently over 800 species of birds protected under the Federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act. The Treaty basically prohibits people from pursuing, hunting, taking, capturing, killing or selling protected birds. The statute does not discriminate between live or dead birds and also grants full protection to any bird parts including feathers, eggs and nests.
That being said, it is perfectly legal to use bird deterrents to protect your boat from pest birds, as long as you are not harming the bird, or disturbing an active nest. To see a detailed list of birds protected under the Migratory Bird Act: http://www.fws.gov/migratorybirds/intrnltr/mbta/mbtandx.html
Do birds carry disease?
Yes, birds do carry over 60 diseases transmittable to humans. Bird roosts and nests can also host ectoparasites, like bird mites.
People are most at risk when they are constantly being exposed to bird droppings. The CDC notes that some are more susceptible to contracting diseases than others “Some people are more likely than others to get diseases from birds. A person's age and health status may affect his or her immune system, increasing the chances of getting sick. People who are more likely to get diseases from birds include infants, children younger than 5 years old, organ transplant patients, people with HIV/AIDS, and people being treated for cancer.”
It is very important that you keep yourself and any employees working to clean up bird droppings properly protected.

Birds on Sun Biminis....
Birds making a mess on dock or pontoons
Geese, ducks, gulls and other birds are notorious for using docks, and swim platforms as waterfront perches. The Bird Spider and Solar Bird Repeller work well for both swim platforms and docks, by using movement to deter birds from the area. Bird Spiders and spikes can be used to prevent birds from sitting on pilings. For docks: many people string the flash tape along the length of the dock, the birds will be frightened or confused by the shiny reflective surface and will want to avoid the area The Gullsweep is an excellent option and we have sold many units to home owners and waterfront homes in the Gold and Sunshine Coasts. We also promote the Croc Head as a great visual decoy to ward off birds.
Make sure all areas are clean and rid of bird poop and scent . The birds develop a good sense of security when they see and smell other poop. Its like a memory card to enable them to come back and encourage other s to come back to the same spot, time and time again. Before instillation of any of the birds off product, you must clean the area’s thoroughly first. This is essential for success in keeping brids off your dock or jetty . Clean first!!
Spare Parts...can i get them?
We have an array of replacement parts on line to accommodate breakages or loss of parts. The Gullsweep range of product has parts on line listed with us. The Spiders don't have moving parts and therefore don't require spares.
We have found that most products last a year or two before service is required. This greatly depends on wind conditions. The Dust Storms of 2009 made many of the products fall over or break in the freak 60 knot winds. All products need to be serviced from time to time and can not be relied upon , un attended for long periods of time over 4 months or so.
How many Gullsweeps do I need ?
This is our most common question. The simple answer is the more protection you have , the greater the success you will have. As a general rule, if your boat is 20 feet long, we suggest 2 Gullsweeps or Spiders. If it is 30 feet long, 3 items. If its 40 foot long, then 4 items.
This general rule of thumb can change if you have a wide, open, flat deck area, you might need more. Have a look in our photo gallary section to give you ideas.
Remember, the more you have, the higher success you will have. Good luck.
Is there product warranty?
Visual Decoys- Do they work?
Visual Decoys like Owls, Falcons and Bird Balloons do work which is why farmers, fruit and wine growers use them. The mmis understood truth about them is that you can't just leave them in the same place for extended periods of time.
The Decoys must be placed in a high and visable place. They must be moved from time to time so as to keep the pest birds at bay.
If you can rotate the decoys every week or two that would be the perfect set up.
